REPORTS
President
D. Ugarriza discussed changing the day of the week for the monthly meetings. She will survey the Board members to see if changing the day to Saturday would be a more convenient day for the members.
The Research Consortium is scheduled to be held at the School of Nursing & Health Studies on November 19, 2007. Beta Tau is a cosponsor and has contributed $500. The Chapter will have an information table at the meeting.
Plaques – D. Ugarriza was able to obtain the names of several award recipients who were not listed on the plaques. These names have been added and the plaques are ready to be picked up from All American Engraving.
18th International Nursing Research Congress held July 11-14 in Vienna, Austria was well attended by Chapter members. The School of Nursing & Health Studies staffed a booth and did recruitment.
President (continued)
Fall Induction – scheduled for Friday, October 5 in the Hurricane Room in the BankUnited Convocation Center. It is tentatively scheduled for 6:00-8:00 p.m. Room rental is $100, and does not include refreshments. It is hoped that, by holding an induction in the fall, members/students will become more involved in both meetings and activities.
D. Ugarriza will contact Awards Committee members, Fran Aronowitz and Martha Bryan, to request they work on a policy/procedure for awarding scholarships. A possibility could be two scholarships of $2,500 each.
39th Biennial Convention, November 3-7, Baltimore, MD – at least one Chapter delegate is required to attend. Fran Downs is unable to attend and Patricia Messmer has relocated to Arizona. D. Ugarriza would like someone other than herself to attend as a delegate. She will speak with M. Asher about attending. J. Siegel expressed a desire to attend and will let D. Ugarriza know as soon as possible so she can submit the names of delegates who will be attending.
Faculty Counsel
J. Gottlieb reported there are approximately 44 prospects for the fall induction. J. Siegel will assist her in using the STTI computerized induction system.
